First Things First: Look at your horse and not the latest trend! To choose the appropriate material, I can give you some useful tips.

Fur Girths for Skin-Sensitive Horses

For horses sensitive in the girth position, fur girths are recommended. There are also special creams, similar to those used by cyclists to protect the sensitive skin folds on the inside of the elbow. We have specially developed the equigetic pad with fur for these horses.

Girths for Large-Framed or Narrow Horses

Large-frame horses are often grateful for moon belts and wide saddle belts that distribute the pressure better. Narrow horses, i.e. horses with a high blood content, are often more sensitive and feel more comfortable with narrow belts. Always try it out and the exception confirms the rule.

Tip: Try Equigetic Pad

If you have received a pad for trial and are not sure, you can attach a towel between your horse and the pad for riding to secure a later return or exchange. You are also welcome to test the equigetic pad and the equigetic jump pad for up to 10 days.

If you have a horse that needs special shoulder freedom or often has tension in the shoulder area, an anatomically shaped girth is a good choice.

Girths for Horses with Stomach Problems

In horses with stomach problems, it has been proven that often less is more. Here, narrower and straightened girths are usually the better choice. The good old cord girth is also pleasant for such horses. It distributes the pressure without having more surface contact than, for example, a moon belt. However, please pay attention to a good quality of the cord strap - often the cheap synthetic straps cut in unpleasantly.

Indications for a horse with stomach problems are usually a painful and pressure-sensitive lateral girth position and a negative reaction when cleaning and grooming around the abdomen.

Short Girths, Long Girths & Leather Girths

Neoprene short or long girths are a pleasant alternative. Some even have memory foam that feels softer than conventional neoprene and should also ensure better pressure distribution. Cleaning is uncomplicated, but a regular check of the material is important here.

The leather girth is certainly the most durable girth and will accompany you for many years with good care. Small tip - make sure that the leather smells good when buying. In this case, you can literally smell poor quality. In addition, the leather should be supple and have no grooves when bending.

Belt Strips on the Girth

With the dressage short girth, they should be softly lines to avoid unpleasant pinching of fur and skin. For elastic straps, please always select both sides of the girth and strap evenly. On both sides! Thus, the girth and saddle remain where they should be and the distribution of the girth pressure is also even! Your horse will thank you!
